Dexter ES

Dexter is a member of the Georgia/Alabama School District and is located on Main Post at Fort Benning, Georgia. Dexter serves children in grades Pre-Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Our school was named in honor of Major Herbert J. Dexter, a Vietnam War Hero. He was a member of the Screaming Eagles 101st Airborne. Major Dexter lost his life in the battle of An Ninh during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross posthumously. Our mascot, Herbie the eagle, and our school colors of red, white, and blue, appropriately represent the courage and bravery of our namesake, Major Dexter.
