Naval Support Facility Indian Head was founded in 1890 and was the Navy's first established presence in southern Maryland. Surrounded by the Potomac River and Mattawoman Creek, Indian Head is home to 360 base residents and is situated less than 30 miles south of the nation's capital. Today's military community on board Naval Support Facility Indian Head represents a diverse and strategically important mix of research and development activities, alongside operational support programs that are protecting the U.S. homeland from terrorist threats, as well as serving U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force and Army forces deployed worldwide on a daily basis. Amenities: Our Indian Head facility re-opened last year after a complete renovation! Stop by and watch a movie, read a book, play video games or use our Wi-fi or computer lab. In addition, this center features a fully stocked food pantry and active food assistance program. Hours: EVERY WEDNESDAY- 10am - 11am is Little Patriots Playgroup. This is a time for all children under the age of 5 to come together, socialize, play, do crafts and interact. Join us! EVERY THURSDAY- 10am - 12pm is Free Bread and Baked Goods Giveaway.
