Rural Mobile Unit
The Rural Mobile Health Unit is supported by a team of health care professionals charged to meet the following objectives: Outreach and Screening: The Team will focus on preventative health care screening, mental health outreach, influenza/pneumonia vaccinations and routine primary care, particularly for Veterans with difficulty accessing VA Health Care. OEF/OIF Outreach: The Team will partner with the West Virginia national Guard, reserve units, Camp Dawson and other military units in support of pre/post deployed Veterans. Services will include VA enrollment/benefit information, suicide prevention training/education, family counseling, primary care and mental health screening. Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) Support and Integration: The Team will expand the efforts of our four CBOCs in "taking services to veterans." Emergency/Disaster Management: The Team will support Veterans, their families and communities during major disasters and other emergencies. Healthier Communities: The Team will promote the VA's goal of encouraging healthier communities and support the VAMC's preventative health care programs, pandemic flu initiatives, diabetes education , and smoking/tobacco cessation.
