About the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System About this Facility The Department of Veterans Affairs recognized the need for an expansion of Veterans' health care services in Deep South Texas and approved the formation of a new health care system encompassing twenty counties comprised of the Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, and Corpus Christi service areas. The name of this new health care system is the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System (VATVCBHCS) and this new system officially activated on October 1, 2010. The VATVCBHCS leadership team now manages its budget independently from the VA in San Antonio. Decisions on the expansion of programs, hiring of staff, and other key issues are now made locally. Community-Based Outpatient Clinics In addition to the VA Health Care Center at Harlingen, we offer services in five community-based outpatient clinics and 2 PACT clinics. These clinics are located in — Laredo, Texas McAllen, Texas Harlingen, Texas Corpus Christi, Texas Mission Honor America’s Veterans by providing exceptional health care that improves their health and well-being. Vision VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System will continue to be the benchmark of excellence and value in health care and benefits by providing exemplary services that are both patient centered and evidence based. This care will be delivered by engaged, collaborative teams in an integrated environment that supports learning, discovery and continuous improvement. It will emphasize prevention and population health and contribute to the nation's well-being through education, research and service in National emergencies.
