The strategic error is structural rather than tactical. Each regional commander is incentivized to request the weapons that win their fight. No single office owns the global ledger until a shortage forces the question. 05The Industrial Base Problem

Even unlimited funding would not instantly refill the shelf. The American munitions industrial base was sized for a peacetime cadence. Three options exist, none politically easy: end or de-escalate the Iran campaign to halt further expenditure; accept a temporary multi-theater readiness gap and say so plainly; or fund and accelerate a munitions surge that cannot arrive in time to matter for the current fight. The silence from senior leadership suggests the fourth option, continuing all three wars and hoping the shelf holds, is the one being chosen by default.
