03From the Pole to the Coast

The United States Antarctic Program operates a network rather than a single base. Wikipedia describes McMurdo Station, on the southern tip of Ross Island, as the largest Antarctic community and a hub for personnel and cargo moving to and from Amundsen–Scott South Pole Station.
